A chrome delete wraps the chrome trim on your car in black or colour-matched film. Window surrounds, grille, badges, mirror caps, door handles, roof rails, the lot. It's the highest-impact change you can make to a modern car for the least money, it's reversible, and at our Caterham unit it's usually done in a day.
“Simon took my outline of an idea, and the entire team then turned my Nissan GTR into a work of art.”
Gavin Allen, Nissan GTRGloss black is the classic and matches gloss black paint details on most cars. Satin black suits satin-wrapped cars and looks slightly softer on a factory-paint car. We can also colour-match trim to the body colour so it disappears. All of it is 3M or Avery cast film that handles the tight curves on window trim without lifting.

Most people start with window trim and grille. On a lot of cars that's 80 per cent of the visual change. Badges and handles finish it off.

Window trim is narrow, curved in two directions, and the edges are visible from a foot away. Film has to be cut clean and tucked, not trimmed against the glass with a blade (we don't cut on glass). Grilles are removed where possible rather than wrapped in place. This is precision work and it's why a proper chrome delete takes a day rather than an hour, and why a cheap one starts peeling at the corners within a season.

Plenty of colour change customers add a chrome delete to finish the look, and plenty of chrome delete customers come back a year later for the full wrap. If you're thinking about both, doing them together saves a little on preparation.
Colour change
Textured plastic trim (film won't bond to a rough surface), pitted or flaking chrome (film follows the pits and can pull the chrome), and trim that gets hot, such as exhaust tips. For those we'll suggest a painted or replacement option rather than film.

BMW (3, 4, 5 Series and X models), Mercedes (C, E, GLC), Audi (A4, A6, Q5, Q7), Range Rover and Discovery, Tesla Model 3 and Y, Volkswagen Golf and Tiguan, and most of the modern Volvo range. If your car has a chrome window surround, it's a candidate.

Which trim, which finish, and whether the grille and badges come off or get wrapped in place. On most cars the badges come off and go back on over the film; on some, they're bonded and we wrap round.
Wash, decontaminate, and clean the trim itself, which on older cars can carry years of polish residue in the seams.
Each piece of trim wrapped individually with edges tucked, not trimmed against paint or glass. Compound curves on window surrounds are heated and worked slowly. The grille is done off the car where it's removable.
Every edge post-heated so the film's memory is set to the new shape. Then checked in daylight, because a chrome delete lives or dies on its edges.
A chrome delete is the modification lessors are most relaxed about, because it's film on trim and it comes off in an hour. Get written permission anyway, keep the email, and budget for removal before the car goes back. If you're on a two- or three-year lease it's worth doing in month one: you get the look for the whole term for a modest price.
Window trim gets hit by wiper spray, brush car washes and enthusiastic detailers with a pressure lance.
It depends on how much chrome the car has. Window trim and grille on a typical saloon or SUV is the starting point. Adding badges, handles, mirrors and roof rails takes it up. We quote it and it's fixed once agreed.
Usually a day. Cars with a lot of trim, or where the grille needs to come out, might be a day and a half. You'll get a real time once we've talked it through.
Yes. The film comes off with heat and the chrome underneath is untouched. It's one of the reasons people choose film over painting the trim.
No. The main body colour hasn't changed, so there's nothing to update on the V5C.
Yes, and it's one of the most common ones we do. Tesla trim is a mix of chrome and satin, and a gloss or satin black delete tidies the whole car.
Not on factory trim in good condition. Pitted or flaking chrome should be dealt with first; film won't hide it and can pull it.
The car and which bits of chrome you want gone. We'll come back with a fixed price and a day you can have it done.
