Removing a wrap is slower than fitting one if you do it properly. Heat the film, lift at a shallow angle, take the adhesive residue off with the right solvent, and the paint underneath is exactly as it was when the film went on. Rip it off cold on a driveway and you get torn film, adhesive that won't shift, and sometimes lacquer that comes with it. We remove wraps, graphics and sign writing at our Caterham unit for private owners, fleets, lease returns and end-of-campaign vehicles.
“Simon took my outline of an idea, and the entire team then turned my Nissan GTR into a work of art.”
Gavin Allen, Nissan GTRLeasing companies expect vehicles back with graphics removed and no residue or damage. We do a lot of lease-return removals for fleets and sole traders, and we'll give you a written note of the paint's condition after removal if the lessor asks. Book it before the return date; removal of an old wrap can take a full day per van.

Film that's been on three years comes off in sheets. Film that's been on ten comes off in flakes, and the adhesive has usually separated from the film and stayed on the paint.

Cast film from 3M or Avery removes cleanly. Cheap calendered film becomes brittle and shatters.

South-facing panels bake. Bonnets and roofs are always the slowest.

Factory paint in good condition is fine. Resprayed panels, especially poor ones, can lift with the film. We inspect first and tell you the risk.

Long-fitted graphics leave a faint outline where the paint underneath aged differently. It's not damage, it's the paint under the graphic looking newer. A polish reduces it; sometimes only time does.

What film, how old, what's under it. We look at edges and at any repaired panels.
Panels warmed evenly so the adhesive softens without the film going brittle. Too hot and it stretches and tears; too cold and it shatters.
Film pulled back on itself at a shallow angle, slowly. Fast pulling leaves adhesive behind.
Any adhesive left is removed with a film-safe remover and soft cloths, never a blade or an abrasive.
Wash, decontaminate, and a written note of the paint condition if you need it for a lease return.
Ghosting reduced with a light machine polish where the paint allows.
Sign writing on a van: two to four hours. A full van wrap that's under five years old: most of a day. An old, sun-baked full wrap: one to two days. Lorries and coaches: quoted individually. Priced by vehicle, coverage and age of the film.
If you're re-wrapping, we do both in one visit.
Paint protection film comes off the same way, with more heat because the film is thicker, and it leaves paint that's been protected for years.
When a fleet is sold, returned or rebranded, dozens of vehicles need old livery off, often to a date.
What actually happens to the paint under a wrap, and the four situations where damage is real.
Permission, removal, colour notifications and what the lessor will want back at the end.
Priced by vehicle, coverage and age of the film. The vehicle and how long it's been on get you a real number.
Not on sound factory paint, done with heat and the right solvent. Resprayed or damaged paint can lift; we inspect first and tell you.
A few hours for sign writing, most of a day for a recent full wrap, up to two days for an old one.
You can, with a heat gun, patience and adhesive remover. The risks are torn film, residue and lifted lacquer, and it takes far longer than people expect. Leased vehicles: get it done professionally.
Sometimes a faint outline (ghosting) on older graphics, because the paint underneath aged less. A polish usually reduces it.
Yes, with heat, and it leaves factory paint underneath.
For sign writing and small graphics, often. For a full wrap, removal is a day and the new wrap starts the next day, so plan for two to three days in total.
Done properly, no. The paint is as it was. We provide a written condition note if the lessor wants one.
What's on the vehicle and roughly when it went on. We'll quote removal, or removal and re-wrap together. 020 8944 6360.
